Empathy for Empathy

Hi, I haven’t done this in quite some time, as you can see below, and I am not much of a writer, I leave that to my sister. However lately I have found myself thinking too much and felt that, this could help. In short I am reopening “Ozlo thinks (again)” (I am Ozlo and I shall be your host).

So this is my first blog since 2007, and this is the subject, “empathy”, as a strong atheist I have sometimes been questioned as to where I get my morals and sense of morality from, since I am not watching my back on weather I am going to hell or not, (btw if I am wrong, I am going to hell as satins bitch) I have no need for them. This is my answer and I do need them but and this is why, it’s a little more complex than I would like but I think its good:

Empathy, it is the understanding humans have of the consequences when we consider doing things to others with negative effects on their lives. Due to the way we are, we cannot help but learn things as we live, and one of those things is the feeling of something bad happening to us and how it hurts. I grant you that it may not be instilled in us at birth but we have the capability to grasp it. Its a lot like balance, when your very young you cant walk but with practice and time you learn and pretty soon you become pretty good at it.

As much as we are told in school that we have 5 senses, I believe we have more, QI states between 9 and 21. Smell, sight, hearing, taste and touch (I hate that last one because it deals with pressure and heat, and I think they should be separate), but none the less these are the famous ones. So often we forget a sense of being, pain, nausea, self worth, control, concern, fear/trepidation . . . . The list goes on, if you wish to prove me wrong on any of those, feel free to send me a message on facebook (Ozlo Duff) I am more than happy to be mistaken, in fact I love it because it helps me find respect for another person , please feel free, oh especial if you’re a woman, I realise I have trust problems with girls so would like to find as many as possible to prove that I should respect and not fear them.

Any way this is my second and final point, maybe it could be argued that empathy is not a sense in the way we currently understand the term but it is an important tool that we use all the time, in the smallest and biggest parts of our lives. So for that reason I suggest that it may not have a hammer, or have prophets, or have built a world in 7 days, but empathy is, at least, in some ways god-like and should be remembered more often.
